Historical Note

American author Alfred Corn (b. 1943) was born in Bainbridge, Georgia. He has received two fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, as well as fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation, the American Academy and Institute of Arts and Letters, and the Academy of American Poets. Corn won the 1982 Levinson Prize from Poetry magazine and has taught at City University of New York; Ohio State University in Columbus; Oklahoma State University in Stillwater; the University of California at Los Angeles; the University of Tulsa in Tulsa, Oklahoma; and Yale University.

Scope and Content

The collection consists of four items regarding Alfred Corn: publicity photograph taken by Thomas Victor to promote the publication of All Roads at Once, published by Viking Press, 1976; publicity postcard announcing the publication of The Various Light, published by the Viking Press and Penguin paperback, 1980; The 74th annual awards ceremony program, held by the Poetry Society of America, April 13, 1984, containing a reprint of From the United Provinces, 1632-1677; publicity postcard announcing the publication of The West Door, published by Viking, 1988.
