India: Embroidery and applique bags and fabric; bead work

1. Square with appliqued mirrors red cotton fabric with multi-colored embroidery, tambour, and mirror work; piece measures 8-1/4 x 8-1/4
2. Shell bag with appliqued mirrors and shells 7-3/8" x 6-3/8" bag embellished with mirror work, shells, embrodiery and tassels along the edge and within the middle square. The mirrors are attached with a shisha stitch, other types of embroidery decorate the bags with pink, purple, gold, and brown yarns, the shellls are white and decorate 3 edges with the red tassels. Black and red 8 pointed starts are embroidered in the middle section of the bag. A multi-colored set of yarns serve as the drawstring for the bag. Mirrorwork is used to decorate costumes and accessories for weddings and festivals.
3. Square bag 8-1/8 x 9-1/8" square bag of an envelope shape with triangular flap. The bag is made from several pieces of fabric: red, brown and gold which are embroidered with white geometric shapes. Thick blue yarns are spaced out on tope of the red cloth and white embroidery. A distinctive type of embroidery work in gold and blue cotton yarns add flair to sections of the bag.

5. Small black bag with embroidery 5 x 4-1/2 inch black bag decorated with multicolored yarns in a chain stitch to create flowers and leaves. Each flower has a mirror in the center attached with the sisha stitch. A multi-colored set of yarns create the drawstring for the bag.
6. Bag with embroidery and appliqued mirrors Envelope bag, primarily of red cotton fabric with distinctive embroidery and mirror work. Measures 8 x 5-1/2. Purple tassel with bead decorates the cetner front.
7. Bag with diamond embroidery and appliqued mirrors 7 x 5" bag (no drawstring) blue trim at tope, mirrorwork and Aari embroidery
8. Bag with embroidery and appliqued mirrors Two triangular shaped bages, one measures 8-1/2 by 8-1/2 (at bottom and 5-1/4 at opening. Dull green cototn fabric edges the sides and opening of bag with mirrorwork and other multi-colored cotton yarns decorating front and back, a beaded tassel on one bottom edge, the other is missing. The 2nd bag is 8-1/2 x 8" and 4" at opening. Similar dull green cotton fabric trims the top and sides, mirrorwork and embroidery decorate this bag, but different embroidered center from the larger bag. There is a yarn and beaded tassel on each wide side and center.
9. Rectangular Bag Floral and Geometric Two triangular shaped bags, one measures 7-7/8 X 8-1/4 at bottom and 5" at opening where there is a multi-colored cotton yarn drawstring with tassel. The bag is decorated with mirrorwork and embroidery and is edged with a bright green cotton. The other bag - is also triaangular shaped and has the dull green edging of the other bags. This bag measures 7-1/2 x 6" (at bottom) and 3" at opening. Mirrorwork and embroidery decorate the bag with 3 bead and yarn tassels are sewn to the bottom of the bag.

Rectangular Bag with appliqued shells/mirrors and embroidery 7" x 4-3/8" bag with mirrorwork and shells, The center of the bag has one mirror attached with sisha stitch in the center and mutli-colored squares some outlined with black. Three shells are attached at the lower end of the center and embellished with two beads and a red tassel. Two to three shells with red tassel are attached to each corn of the center, red, white and black embroidery with gold yarn outline the center piece. Mirrorwork separated by white embroidery decorate the outer rectangle again trimmed in red, whiite and black and gold outline. Purple and bloue embrodiery decorate the top and bottom edge of the bag. 11. Bag with embroidery and applique The bag measures 7-5/8" in lenght, the widest section measures 8-1/8" at the bottom and 5" at the top/opening of the bag. Green fabric frames the red central piece of the bag that is embellished with mirrow work and emboirdery. Multi-colored yarns create a drawstring at the top of the bag on one side, while beads and tassels are attached to each bottom edge of the bag.
12. Bag with embroidery and applique 4 x 4-5/8" bag of black cotton with mutlicolored flowers in mirror work and tambour embroidery (known in India as Aari). Multi-colored cotton yarn creates the drawstring and 3 tassels decorated the bottom of the bag.
13. Square with bird and elephant embroidery 8 x 9" piece of red cotton decorated with tambour stitch embroidery. A black elephant, peacocks, flowers, corn, and other birds decorate the center section. Multi-colored diamonds outlined in black yarns with white tambour work separating each diamond. Orange yarns also outline the center square and outer edge of the embroidery.
14. Beaded square 5-3/4 x 5" beaded square with a yellow bead loop for hanging (on a wall or a garment). Could be a ganeshtapan from Gujarat, India. A figure of some kind is in the center of the piece.
15. black drawstring bag Similar to the other black bag, this one measures 5-3/4 x 4-3/4" with opening along the wide end. Aari and mirrorwork with small embroidered flowers and 3 tassels on the bottom edge.
16. Bag with embroidery and applique triangular drawstring bag, 7-7/8 X 5-1/8 x 8-3/8 at the bottom/widest part of the bag; multi-colored mirrorwork with green cotton around the edges. Tassels of cotton yarn at each corner
17. Triangular shaped bag with green border 7-1/2 at bottom, 3-3/4 at top and 7-3/4 in length. Bag is edged in green cotton with red center, two mirrorwork patterns on each side with one mirror missing.
18. Small envelope shaped bags with embroidery and mirrorwork 3-5/8 x 5-3/4 with triangular flap open to reveal gauze lining (yellow and red). Both bags have mirrr work and embroidery of multicolored cotton yarns and sequins. A tassel decorates each bottom edge. Stylized star pattern on the back side of each bag, different in shape (distinctive).
19. Small bag with embroidery and applique Envelope shaped, 3 x 4-3/8, the two bags are similar in shape and size but differ in embroidery and colorss, one has mirror work and the other does not. - Physical location:
