- Scope and content:
-
This series consists of correspondence where either the recipient is not identified or the correspondents are not members of the Cobb, Lamar, Erwin, or Barrow families. The majority of the correspondence in this series likely belonged to Howell Cobb, but the letters are not specifically addressed to him, they may have been forwarded to Howell Cobb because they involved his constituents. Also, there are letters from B. J. Brantley, James Jackson, Henry R. Jackson, and members of the Rutherford and Craig families. During 1864 and 1865, there are letters and documents belonging to R. J. Hallett, Cobb's Assistant Adjutant General. Includes correspondence addressed to Cobb, Erwin, and Cobb attorneys, which consisted of Lamar Cobb, Alex S. Erwin, and Howell Cobb.
