A. Walter Louis and Alice Woodliff Stovall, 1907-1965
- Scope and content:
-
Walter Louis and Mary Alice (Alice) Woodliff Stovall married on April 18, 1900 and had six children: Walter Louis, Jr., James Edwin, Mary Katherine (Katherine), Sarah (Boosh) Elizabeth, Martha Woodliff, and George Woodliff. This subseries contains the correspondence between Walter and Alice and invitations received by the Stovall family. Walter and Alice individually received letters from extended family members and friends. Alice received more personal letters regarding family events while Walter received business-like mail such as receipts, invoices, and notifications. The majority of the correspondence is dated from World War II and a few years later, around 1949, when Alice was tending to a dying relation. The earliest correspondence is between Alice and the Woodliff family, primarily her mother and sisters.
