The collection contains one letter from Senator Richard B. Russell to Bill Westmoreland, dated August 13, 1965, stating that rumors indicating he is in poor health are false, and expressing his intention to run for U.S. Senate re-election. Also contains a photocopy of a clipping, showing Senator Russell with wounded soldiers from Georgia at a U.S. hospital.
