The collection consists of accounting records of the Brumby Chair Company (Marietta, Ga.) from 1879-1945. The records consist primarily of a comprehensive collection of materials documenting the fiscal activity of the company. The records include cash books, cash journals, order books, time records for workers, shipping receipts, and general journals. The collection also contains price lists and sales catalogs featuring the products manufactured.

The Brumby Chair Company was established in 1875 in Marietta, Georgia by James Remley Brumby and Major Henry Myers. Later, Brumby's brother, Thomas M. Brumby, joined the business and became a significant business and civic leader in Marietta. In 1944, the factory closed and was sold to an Ohio company.
In 1972, Frank and Carole Melson produced the Brumby Rocking Chair under a license. After Carole Melson retired, Brumby Chair Co. President Otis Brumby, Jr. reopened the Brumby Chair Company in 1992 in Marietta Square.
