The collection consists of photographs taken by the U.S. Army Signal Corps during World War I. The photographs, undated, contain captions, and portray American soldiers, German prisoners-of-war; and observation balloons, in the Forest of Argonne, Saint-Mihiel, and an American military hospital in Aix-les-Bains. Some people identified include U.S. Secretary of War, Newton D. Baker, Major General B. B. Buck, of the American Expeditionary Forces in France, Major General Adelbert Cronkhite and Chief of Staff Colonel William H. Waldron.
