The collection consists of manuscripts, clippings, pamphlets and reserach notes on the subjects of history and genealogy. Additionally, there are invitations, family letters, memoirs, diaries, programs, family pictures, photograph albums, and scrapbooks.

William B. Williford was a historian who studied Atlanta, Athens, Covington, Americus, and other places in Georgia. He worked in public relations in Atlanta and served on the board of directors for the Atlanta Historical Society.
He wrote several books, including Americus Through the Years, The Glory of Covington (Georgia), and Peachtree Street, Atlanta. He also coauthored A Source Book on the Early History of Cuthbert and Randolph County, Georgia, and Uncle Remus: His Songs and His Sayings.
